The only person more familiar with Bigg Boss than Salman Khan is no one. As much as it is about the contestants and the issues, the reality show has become about the superstar, who has hosted 13 of its 16 seasons so far. So it's hardly surprising that Salman would start his foray into digital entertainment with the tried-and-true classic. Season 2 of Bigg Boss OTT premiered earlier this month with returning favourites like host Salman and contestants like Pooja Bhatt, Cyrus Broacha, Aaliya Siddiqui, Bebika Dhurve, and Avinash Sachdev.

During an interaction with Mid Day, when asked how it feels to have been such a vital part of the show for 13 years, Salman, who has hosted the show for many years, claimed to have witnessed its development up close. More crucially, though, he has observed with great detail how the audience has expanded along with it. A smarter audience is a direct result of Bigg Boss. In the show, authenticity is prized above all else, regardless of whether that authenticity is good or harmful. Still, being authentic is necessary if one wants to keep their spot on the show. The audience appreciates the drama and conflicts, but they are also savvy enough to identify the actors who are acting.

It was an easy decision for Salman to make Bigg Boss OTT his first digital appearance. The superstar says the show's focus on entertaining is a good fit for his artistic inclinations. There's a constant demand for nonstop entertainment in the country. Like him, this season will be unvarnished and authentic. His relationship with the show is the epitome of "Ram Milaye Jodi."

The JioCinema release stands apart from the rest of the series since it can be viewed in real time. The OTT version is more "unfiltered" than the more subdued TV version. Salman, who has amassed a devoted family following over the years and is one of the few Hindi artists to have a no-kissing on screen rule, promised at the show's premiere that he would make sure the show adhered to "our culture" despite its raunchy nature.

If one presses him further, he replies that he believes there should be censorship on the OTT medium. This foul language, sexual innuendo, and lack of clothing must end. It's appropriate for viewers as young as 15 or 16. All the making out, kissing, and stripping in scenes are behind one. Even as people walk into the building, the security guard has witnessed their efforts. Verifying the content is essential, and after websites started segmenting their content by age range, it became far too much for most people to handle. Good material is finally being created.
