Actor Manikuttan, who is known for his notable roles in films and TV serials, emerged as the winner of Bigg Boss Malayalam 3. Interestingly, he had earlier expressed his disinterest in continuing to be in the house and wanted to quit the show halfway through the season. He has now won a prize money worth Rs 75 lakh. The show’s host and actor Mohanlal announced the winner of the title during the grand finale event which was held on Sunday.
The grand finale had eight contestants competing for the title. Apart from Manikuttan, Anoop Krishnan, Rithu Manthra, Noby Marcose, Ramzan Muhammed, Kidilam Firoz, Sai Vishnu and Dimpal Bhal were the other finalists. The finale began with Mohanlal’s interaction with all the contestants, where each of them described how their life had changed after participating in the show. The three-hour episode contained several stage performances and dance numbers. Sai Vishnu went on to become the first runner-up while Dimpal Bhal and Ramzan Muhammed secured third and fourth place respectively.
During his speech, Manikuttan turned emotional and thanked Mohanlal for his guidance. Thomas James aka Manikuttan is a Malayalam actor who has played lead roles in Malayalam movies like Boyfriend and Valiyangadi. He has a few films in his kitty, including Priyadarshan’s Mohanlal-starrer Marakkar and Tamil anthology Navarasa.
The pandemic had interrupted the second season of Bigg Boss Malayalam, and the contestants and the host couldn’t bid a proper goodbye to the audience. The third season was halted after the Bigg Boss house in EVM City in Chennai was sealed by the authorities, in the wake of the coronavirus second wave.
It was said that six crew members were tested positive on the set. Later, all the showrunners were asked to leave immediately. A fine of Rs 1 lakh was also imposed on the show’s makers.
