In late October, only weeks into Bigg Boss Kannada 10, contestant Varthur Santhosh had an unpleasant experience. He ran into trouble over an illegal tiger claw pendant that he wore. Almost overnight, he had to leave the Bigg Boss Kannada house and was eventually even jailed for a few days.

Out on bail, Santhosh returned to the show and has since then managed not to tell any of his fellow contestants about his ordeal. There was a time when Santhosh had pleaded with Bigg Boss to let him return home, but he was talked out of quitting by show host Kiccha Sudeep.

The fact that Santhosh did not give his contestants any hint of the hardship he endured, and that he never felt the need to unburden himself, reckons Sudeep, would have taken great mental strength to soldier on and remain on the show.

On the grand finale stage, Sudeep felt that it was time to let the finalists in on what had happened during Santhosh’s time out from the show. Even his close pal Tukali Santhosh had no idea.

Praising Varthur Santhosh for his extraordinary handling of the situation, Sudeep said that he deserved applause. Once they knew what had actually happened, the fellow finalists all expressed that they had nothing but respect for Varthur.

A popular farmer, whose primary business is in rearing the Hallikar breed of cattle, Varthur Santhosh is one of 6 finalists of the 10th season of Bigg Boss Kannada. The milestone season kicked off on October 8 and ends on January 28. Last heard, the buzz on social media was that Santhosh was one of the top vote recipients for the finale, pipping even the more ‘popular’ contestants. But can he stake claim on the Bigg Boss Kannada 10 trophy?
