Bigg Boss 18 began with a newer twist. For the first time, an animal entered the show as the contestant. Yes, a donkey named Gadhraj entered Bigg Boss 18 as contestant number 19 and instantly became the centre of attention. The cutest member of the house (and as Salman Khan calls him, the smartest member too) is now out of the show. This happens in the midst of PFA (People For Animals) accusing the makers of animal abuse.

Gadhraj out of the show

Gadhraj, who was a contestant on Bigg Boss 18 since the grand premiere i.e. for a week straight, is the first contestant out of 19 to be out. The donkey who was otherwise low-maintenance and the quietest yet sassiest member in the house, is evicted.

The organization, PFA, who had complained against Gadhraj’s stay in the house, confirmed the same by claiming that the makers have updated them of the release of the donkey. “Thanks to Smt. Maneka Sanjay Gandhi, Chairperson, People For Animals, for her intervention in this matter. This success was made possible through the collective efforts of everyone in the community who stood up for the donkey’s release,” their caption read.

PFA's accusations

The eviction co-incidentally comes in the time when PFA accused the makers of animal abuse. The same came after another renowned organization Peta wrote a letter to the host of the show, Salman Khan.

Gadhraj was tied up in a spot and given food only from time-to-time. There's no confirmation on who took care of his cleaning and maintenance, but now Gadhraj is finally out and will hopefully be able to roam more freely. The organizations’ complaints were that the donkey was kept in distressing conditions for the sake of ‘entertainment.’

The other 18 contestants

Among the many contestants on Bigg Boss 18, Vivian Dsena, Karan Veer Mehra, Tajinder Singh Bagga, Rajat Dalal, Avinash Mishra and Eisha Singh keep making headlines. The others include Shehzada Dhami, Sara Arfeen Khan, Arfeen Khan, Shilpa Shirodkar, Muskan Banme, Gunaratan Sadavarte, Hema Sharma aka Viral Bhabhi, Shruthika, Chaahat Pandey, Alice Kaushik, Chum Darang and Nyraa Banerji.
