Before SRK+, Anurag Kashyap and Shah Rukh Khan almost came together for No Smoking, which John Abraham eventually worked on.
Anurag Kashyap has joined hands with Shah Rukh Khan for the actor’s newly announced OTT app, SRK+. The filmmaker is best known for his raw style of filmmaking which makes his joining hands with SRK very interesting. Anurag made the big announcement soon after Shah Rukh Khan unveiled the name of his app.
Anurag called the collaboration a ‘dream-come-true.’ The filmmaker then went on to reveal he is indeed collaborating with SRK on the newly announced app, SRK+.
Here’s his tweet:
This will be the first time when Anurag and Shah Rukh join hands for a project. The two almost came together for No Smoking, which John Abraham eventually worked on. Back then, SRK was extremely upset for not being able to work in the film. However, it not appears the two will actually work on a project together at long last.
Not many would know that the two actually share a connection in their personal life. SRK is Anurag’s senior from Hansraj College, New Delhi. Being a huge fan, Anurag actually used the connection and walked into Mannat to eat an omelette cooked by SRK.
Shah Rukh Khan made the big announcement about his own OTT, SRK+ early in the morning. The announcement brought all his fans to tears and celebrities lauding his move.
SRK+’s announcement comes just days after Shah Rukh Khan finally revealed the first look of his upcoming movie Pathaan. With that, he also announced the release date of his film.
Co-starring John and Deepika Padukone, Pathaan is slated to release on January 25, 2023. The movie will be Shah Rukh Khan’s first movie releasing after five long years. His last film was Aanand L. Rai’s Zero which released in 2018.
Shah Rukh actually took social media by storm with the announcement video. The Siddharth Anand directorial was previously going to clash with Hrithik Roshan and Deepika’s Fighter, also helmed by Siddharth. However, the filmmaker averted the clash by shifting Fighter’s release date to August.
Going by the back-to-back announcements, it wouldn’t be a surprise if Pathaan will start streaming on SRK+ after its theatrical release. Now, one can only wonder if all other Shah Rukh Khan movies, released or to be released, will all be available on SRK+ or be divided between other OTT platforms.
