The Emmy-winning adult animated comedy series on Netflix, Big Mouth is back with its fifth season. The quirky, zany and sexy series that made waves with its unique multi-layered premise right from the first season has created a dedicated fanbase. The series is created by Andrew Goldberg, Nick Kroll, Mark Levin, and Jennifer Flackett.
What is the cast?
It can be safely said that the main characters of Big Mouth will return in Season 5. The cast includes the co-creator of the series Nick Kroll along with John Mulaney, Jessi Klein, Jason Mantzoukas, Fred Armisen, Maya Rudolph, Jordan Peele and Andrew Rannell.
How many episodes are there in season 5?
While there is no official announcement on the number of episodes in season 5, one can expect it to have 10 episodes of half an hour each, like the previous seasons except for Season 3 that had a Valentine’s Day special. The trailer of the fifth season dropped on October 15 on the platform.
When will the series release?
Big Mouth Season 5 will drop on Netflix on November 5. The release date was announced with a teaser art that showed Rick the Hormone Monster flaunting tattoos on hand that read ‘Love’ and ‘Hate’.
What is the central premise?
The series is a side-splitting take on a range of pertinent themes like onset of puberty, sexuality, depression and more. The hormone monsters stage a return for another season with new members in the universe. The story unfolds in New York, and follows the journey of two young teens called Nick Birch voiced by Kroll and Andrew Glouberman played by John Mulaney and their journey as they try to understand their raging hormones and changing body with the onset of puberty. Their classmates are in this phase too and metaphorical monsters signify their personal experiences of adolescence and puberty. Joining them in their story are Connie the Hormone Monstress voiced by Maya Rudolph and Tito the Anxiety Mosquito, played by Maria Bamford, to name a few of them.
What inspired the series?
The germ of the idea was drawn from personal experiences of Nick Kroll and his childhood buddy Andrew Goldberg. Embarrassing real-life incidents have been drawn from their experiences. For instance, Kroll had revealed in an interview to NowThis Entertainment that he was a ‘late bloomer’ in his life and that his female friend had her first period while on a visit to the Statue of Liberty, just like the character Jessi in the episode ‘Everyone Bleeds,’ in season 1 of the sitcom.

Who are the new monsters in season 5?
Season 5 will have Brandon Kyle Goodman, Keke Palmer, and Pamela Adlon as guest stars and they will lend their voice to fresh figurative monsters in the hood, that come up in the characters as and when they experience those emotions. Till date, the monster troop in the tale has shown Hormone Monsters, the Shame Wizard, the Depression Kitty, wherein each of them signify a stage of human development and emotions. And as per Deadline, Season 5 will introduce lovebugs and hate worms to the show. These monsters can morph and alternate between their love and hate forms.
