Bhumi Pednekar says that Gauri Waghmare from Govinda Naam Mera is a force of nature that can't be stopped. She lives her life on her terms, which is essential. Vicky Kaushal plays Gauri's husband, who is a choreographer. Whenever he finds love outside of marriage, Gauri tells him about her new boyfriend.

Talking about the same, Bhumi told Mid Day that Gauri may assert herself in front of a man and speak up for what she wants in life. The actor, who had a blast playing the part, applauded Shashank Khaitan for allowing her the freedom to run riot with the character.

In Govinda Naam Mera which also stars Kiara Advani, the main characters are a husband who is angry with his wife and a wife who is suffocating him. It is clear from the trailer that Bhumi's character controls the marriage. The actor was interested in the movie because of how independent her character was and how different the roles of men and women were.

She loves playing ladies who disrupt the way that society views gender and challenge the status quo. This should serve as her calling card, and through her body of work, she wants to loudly speak about the need for equality.

Over the course of her seven-year career, the actress has always used her movies to support the cause. The women at the centre of the stories may have different backgrounds and settings, but they are all powerful and assertive. Bhumi says she chose to play these strong characters on purpose. For example, in Toilet: Ek Prem Katha (2017), she plays a newlywed who files for divorce because her home doesn't have a toilet, and in Badhaai Do, she plays a shy woman who comes out of the closet.

The actor has always thought that movies are a great way to show strong, independent, and forward-thinking women. She made a point of picking movies that depict modern women. Bhumi usually plays women who fight against patriarchy and don't give up on their goals and dreams.
