Costume designer Akshaya Premnath also believes that designing is an important element of cinema
Prithviraj Sukumaran starrer Bhramam has been receiving positive reviews and acclaims, even from the Andhadhun fans, since its OTT release last week. Besides the intriguing storyline, the movie is also noted for the appealing costumes of the characters, especially the hero's casual tank tees and stylish suits as. In a recent chat with Pinkvilla, the costume designer Akshaya Premnath opened up about her experiences with the movie and Mollywood's youth icon.
Akshaya said she feels privileged working with director Ravi K Chandran and Prithviraj. She believes designing is an important element of cinema, as it gives a separate identity and realistic nature to the character. She seems to have created many patterns, prints and fabrics during pre-production, to match the characters with the story, and the cultural aspects of the place where the story is happening. She also revealed that it was challenging to create completely different colour themes from Andhadhun as there should not be anything matching the original hit version.
Prithviraj’s character is notable for the stylish jackets, tank tees and formal suits he wears throughout the movie. Sharing about the stunning look of him, the stylist said she felt much comfortable working with him. She also thinks that 75 percent of the costume credits is of the designer’s while 25 should be credited to the actor, and in that case Prithviraj has done an excellent job by carrying them so gracefully.
Akshaya has previously worked for costumes in three movies, making Bhramam her fourth. When asked about her way of working, she said she would rather focus on the entire movie than the particular character, and work with colours and patterns for each scene. She also thanked the director for the opportunity and trust he put on her.
