Bhooth Bangla marks Hera Pheri reunion as Tabu joins Akshay Kumar in Priyadarshan’s horror-comedy - Reports

The fact that Priyadarshan and Akshay Kumar are reuniting after all these years for a horror comedy has given us all one thing to be very excited about 2026. The makers of the movie have been giving out pivotal details to keep the buzz going. The biggest highlight of this project is Kumar going back to his Hera Pheri director after so many years. But it seems like that is not the end of the Hera Pheri reunion as it keeps growing now. A new report says that Tabu, who is right now in the news for Dune: Prophecy has joined the Priyadarshan movie too. The actor, as per the reports, is very excited to be a part of it, and below is everything you should know about the same.

Tabu Joins Bhooth Bangla

Bhooth Bangla which is set for an April 2026 release, has been one of the most discussed movies in the country. The movie was in rumors for a long time before it was finally confirmed. Alongside Akshay Kumar, it stars Paresh Rawal, Wamiqa Gabbi, Rajpal Yadav, and Asrani. Reports say now Tabu has joined the cast of the movie and that she is very impressed with the role that is offered to her. She reunites with filmmaker Priyadarshan after 24 years precisely.

As per Pinkvilla a source said, “Tabu is reuniting with Akshay Kumar and Priyadarshan after their last collaboration on Hera Pheri in 2000. The actress loved her part and the script, which marries horror and humor with Indian Mythology. She is excited to step into the crazy world, which is set to be created by Priyadarshan.”

The source also revealed how the process is on to get more renowned names attached to Bhooth Bangla and the cast will only get bigger and better from here. The filming of the movie is underway, and the makers are planning to wrap up the film by April 2025. Bhooth Bangla will have a lot of visual effects as the genre demands it.

Bhooth Bangla Franchise Plans

But there is one more massive update that says that the makers, including Ekta Kapoor, Akshay Kumar, and Priyadarshan, plan to turn this into one-of-a-kind horror comedy franchise. “Bhooth Bangla is going to be a horror comedy franchise from the OGs, who actually started this trend way back in 2007 with Bhool Bhulaiyaa 1” the source shared. Interestingly, the Bhooth Bangla franchise can be carried forward only and only with Akshay Kumar. “The Khiladi has it in his contract that the film can take the franchise route either with him in the lead or with his NOC. The makers intend to make one film in the series every two years,” the source concluded.
