Bhool Bulaiyaa 2
Bhool Bulaiyaa 2 has been the talk of the town ever since it was announced, for many reasons. The film is a sequel to Priyadarshan's hit horror-comedy film, Bhool Bhulaiyaa, which is a remake of Malayalam movie, Manichitrathazhu and features Vidya Balan, Akshay Kumar and Shiney Ahuja in lead roles. In the sequel, the lead roles will be played by Kartik Aaryan and Kiara Advani. So it is natural that they'd be compared to the prominent senior actors of the first instalment of the film franchise.
The makers of the film, Bhool Bulaiyaa 2 dropped its trailer today, which features Kiara Advani being possessed by Manjulika. It sparked a conversation, even on the internet about her role and the fans started comparing her with Vidya Balan, who played the role of someone with dual personality disorder and originally presented Manjulika. At the trailer launch event of the film, Kiara was asked about playing the iconic character from Akshay Kumar-Vidya Balan's film and this is what she had to say.
The Kabir Singh actor says she is not even attempting to fill in those shoes. "I am just trying to do my work and the best that I can. This is a franchise, not a remake. I am not really playing that character. Yes, there is Manjulika. I can't give away the suspense of the film but I think they (Akshay Kumar and Vidya Balan) were the inspirations and we have tried to do our best with the characters written for us," she said.
Earlier today, Vidya Balan had taken to social media to share a post, appreciating the film. She shared the trailer on Instagram with the caption: "Congratulations #BhushanKumar and team for this haunted comedy. The trailer looks familiar yet different … Haha!! … can't wait to experience this roller-coaster ride again #BhoolBhulaiyaa2."
