Bhool Bhulaiyaa developed quite the cult following after its release and so did its title track. Composer Tanishk Bagchi brought a new spin to the iconic song originally sung by Neeraj Shridhar and created by Pritam for the upcoming sequel featuring Kartik Aaryan.
The song has the recognisable verses by Neeraj, with the addition of rap Mellow D and Bob, making it more up to trend with 2022. The entirety of the song features Kartik in a nightclub setting where he's seen shaking a leg and lip-syncing the lyrics. The choreography is by Bosco-Caeser.
Tanishk has previously recreated many fan-favourite songs like AR Rahman's 'Masakali' from Delhi-6 but the reaction to them has more or less been intense criticism. However, the Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 title track maintains the originality of the 2007 song, so fans shouldn't be miffed this time around.
Kartik shared the song on Twitter, asking viewers to do the "ZigZag" hook step. One can definitely expect a barrage of reels to pop up on Instagram for this song and the dance step have the potential to blow up.
Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 is not a direct sequel to the Priyadarshan horror-comedy featuring Akshay Kumar and Vidya Balan, but a spiritual one much like Badhaai Do was to Badhaai Ho. The trailer, which was unveiled last week, teased the mystery of Manjulika who had haunted the haveli in the original movie.
Kartik is joined by Kiara Advani, Tabu, Sanjay Mishra, and Rajpal Yadav, who famously played Chhote Pandit in the original. Anees Bazmee, known for his comedic features like No Entry, Welcome and Singh is Kinng, is the director. Farhad Samji and Aakash Kaushik are the writers.
Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 will release in cinemas on May 20.
