Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 was a major milestone for Kartik Aaryan, as he managed to break into the Rs 200 crore club for the first time in his career
Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2
Kartik Aaryan’s career reached a new height after the release of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 in 2022. The movie shattered box office expectations and became a resounding commercial success. The horror comedy entered the Rs 200 crore club. This achievement propelled Kartik to a new level of stardom, solidifying his position as a leading actor in the Hindi film industry. After this massive success, Kartik is now busy shooting for Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, which also stars Triptii Dimri. The most interesting news about this third installment is that Vidya Balan is returning to the franchise, 17 years after the release of the first movie.
An interesting encounter with Reet (Kiara Advani) in Himachal Pradesh turns Ruhan’s (Kartik Aaryan) world upside down. A simple act of kindness results in a string of unfortunate events. Ruhan finds himself drawn to Reet’s peculiar family dispute, which is full of horrifying and supernatural events. Will Ruhan be able to find the reason, solve the issue, and have his happily ever after with Reet?
Although the movie ends on a clear note, the makers succeed in leaving viewers confused. A flashback reveals that Manjulika, the spirit everyone thinks has possessed Anjulika, is actually Anjulika herself, and not Manjulika. Manjulika, who practiced black magic, killed their father and used her power to hypnotise Anjulika to take over her life. So, it is actually Anjulika's spirit that seeks revenge throughout the movie, not Manjulika.

This second installment of the Bhool Bhulaiyaa franchise delves deeper into Manjulika’s backstory. It looks at her life as a dancer who falls in love with a prince, only to be heartbroken when her twin sister Anjulika becomes his chosen bride. Driven by jealousy, Manjulika’s turning to black magic and ultimately meeting a tragic end gives a wider explanation of Anjulika's becoming a ghost and her vengeful act, unlike the first installment.
Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 has a common story that is dependent on a woman's conflict. The movie reinforces the idea that women who don't conform to societal expectations are evil and need to be controlled. The ghost represents everything that is wrong and is in need of being subdued and banished forever so that everyone's life can go back to normal.
