The movie also has Soubin Shahir, Dileesh Pothan, Shine Tom Chacko and Anasuya Bharadwaj in pivotal roles
Director Amal Neerad ushered in a new era of filmmaking when he made his debut in 2007 with the Mammootty-starrer Big B. The superhit film, known for its stylish frames and ‘mass’ sequence, raised the expectations for the duo that they took almost 15 years to team up again in the upcoming film Bheeshma Parvam.
The movie, which is scripted by Amal Neerad and Devadath Shaji, was put together after the duo’s initial plan of working on Big B’s sequel Bilal was delayed due to the pandemic. However, that hasn’t dimmed the excitement or the hype for the movie one bit.
Right from its first look poster, which had Mammootty sporting overgrown hair and beard, the expectations have been massive. The cast of the film only fueled this further with Soubin Shahir, Sreenath Bhasi, Shine Tom Chacko, Dileesh Pothen, Nedumudi Venu, Nadiya Moidu, Veena Nandakumar, Jinu Joseph, Sudev Nair, Shebin Benson, Srinda and Anasuya Bharadwaj joining the team.
What is Bheeshma Parvam about?
The movie revolves around Mammootty’s character named Michael who was reportedly a former gangster. Years after he left his old ways, his family has been threatened by those working with him and Michaels is forced to revisit his past.
Bheeshma Parvam is set in the mid 1980s and has been shot extensively in Kochi during the pandemic. Compared to Big B or the planned Bilal that was to be filmed even abroad, this movie was made keeping in mind the restrictions during the pandemic, but without sacrificing its entertainment value.
When is Bheeshma Parvam releasing?
The movie, which was made entirely keeping in mind a theatrical release, was confirmed to hit the cinema halls across the world on February 24 initially. However, the Omicron threat has delayed the release by a week. Bheeshma Parvam is now set to release on March 3, 2022. The film’s OTT release date and platform is yet to be announced.
