Bheed teaser: Rajkummar Rao-Bhumi Pednekar’s upcoming film questions if 2020 India Lockdown is anything like 1947 partition
Bheed - Rajkummar Rao, Bhumi Pednekar.

The teaser of Rajkummar Rao-Bhumi Pednekar’s upcoming movie Bheed makes you question if the 2020 India Lockdown was anything like the 1947 partition between India and Pakistan. The teaser clears that even if people had to migrate from their homes, the story is not set in the times of the partition. Anubhav Sinha brings to light the life of migrant workers during lockdown.

Bheed, which translates into crowd, is about how people were grouped together according to their caste/occupation. The upcoming movie is touted to be a ‘story of the darkest times’ and thus, it has been shot in black-and-white.

Watch the teaser here:

It is rare for movies to be shot in black-and-white in times of colour. However, many have used the technique to convey a message – of darkness. Nonetheless, no film in the recent times has been shot and released in black-and-white.

Indian Lockdown has become a hot topic for makers. Before Anubhav, Madhur Bhandarkar tapped into the topic of Indian Lockdown with his movie of the same name – India Lockdown. The Zee5 release showed us many lives affected due to the COVID-19 lockdown in 2020. The story also included migrant workers. Prateik Babbar and Sai Tamhankar were a part of the story.

Bheed is Rajkummar and Bhumi’s pairing post Badhaai Do. Meanwhile, Anubhav’s last release in theatres was Anek with Ayushmann Khurrana. The film received a mixed response.

Bheed also stars Pankaj Kapur in a pivotal role. The movie releases in theatres on March 24.
