Varun Dhawan starrer Bhediya is competing Ajay Devgn's Drishyam 2 at the box office.
The horror-comedy Bhediya, starring Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon, released in theatres on Friday. It competed fiercely with Ajay Devgn's Drishyam 2. Although industry experts believed that the success of Drishyam 2 would not affect Bhediya, it appears that it has. The movie by director Amar Kaushik had a lacklustre opening weekend at the box office, failing to break the double digit mark.
Bhediya, a werewolf drama starring Kriti Sanon and Varun Dhawan, is directed by Amar Kaushik, who brought back the horror-comedy genre with Stree (2018). Stree created mayhem at the box office, but Bhediya's early numbers don't seem too encouraging. Trade reports state that Bhediya's domestic sales on Friday, November 25, were in the range of Rs 6 to 7 crore. It brought in a total of Rs. 12.06 crore globally.
According to BOI, Bhediya's opening is 20% less than Varun Dhawan's previous film, Jugjugg Jeeyo. In CI and Rajasthan, "Jugjugg Jeeyo" is the same collection as "Bhediya" in these marketplaces. The film has earned a respectable sum in the UP and Delhi circuits, which may exceed Rs 1.50 crore nett, while the Mumbai market is anticipated to add Rs 2 crore to the film's final gross. The popularity of "Drishyam 2" is affecting "Bhediya's" collections in Gujarat and Maharashtra.
Amar Kaushik and Dinesh Vijan are the director and producer of the comedy-horror movie Bhediya. Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon play the key roles in the movie. After Dilwale, this is Kriti's second movie with Varun (2015). Whereas, Bhediya is the third film in Vijan's horror-comedy series. On November 25, it premiered in theatres. The plot of Bhediya, which is set in Arunachal Pradesh, centres on a young guy named Bhaskar who suffers a wolf bite in the forest. He eventually begins to change into a werewolf as well. The lyrics of the songs in the movie are written by Amitabh Bhattacharya, and Sachin-Jigar composed the songs.
