The actress is paired with Roopesh Shetty in the film, which also stars Sumanth Shailendra Babu and Kavitha Gowda and releases on November 26.
Since settling in Bengaluru, Mollywood actress Bhavana, has been focusing on her career in Kannada films. The actress, who began her Sandalwood journey with the late Puneeth Rajkumar’s blockbuster, Jackie, was, most recently seen in Shivarajkumar’s Bhajarangi 2.
This week, she gears up for her next here, Govinda Govinda, which will be her third release since theatres reopened at full capacity. What’s special about Govinda Govinda is that Bhavana did not really have to work on getting into character, because she plays an actress in it.
In a conversation with TOI, Bhavana said, “This is a very different role as I get to play myself in this film. It is a kind of a cameo, in one of the two tracks that runs in the film. There are two storylines that intersect, one featuring Sumanth and Kavitha and the other featuring Roopesh and me. My role is that of an established actress, drawn to a script by a new filmmaker.” The actress adds that the interactions between her and Roopesh forms most of their storyline, along with a hint of romance. “I had fun playing myself on the set. This gave me a lot of scope for improvisation. I’d played an actress long ago in a Malayalam film. This time around, it was different and I can’t wait to see how people will respond,” she added.
In an earlier interaction with us, the actress had spoken about how accepting Kannada audiences have been of her. “I have been enjoying the love from Kannada audiences. In fact, today, people call me Kannadada sose, perhaps because I have made Bengaluru home after I got married. But audiences have always been accepting and loving,” she said.
Govinda Govinda also has Sumanth Shailendra Babu and Kavitha Gowda in the lead.
