Bhavana breaks her silence on assault case; thanks everyone who stood by her
Bhavana

Five years ago, she was the unnamed victim in an assault case allegedly masterminded by a leading Mollywood star. The case has had ups and downs over the years, much of which did not even make it to mainstream media owing to a gag order brought on by the star, who after a brief stint in jail, returned to life under the arc lights.

For the actress, who subsequently got married and moved lock stock and barrel to Bengaluru, where the Kannada film industry has been more than welcoming, the last five years have been of her journey from victim to survivor. For the first time, since the case broke, the actress has addressed the same, thanking everyone who stood by her through thick and thin. While the law prevents us from naming her, we will only report what she has posted on social media. Bhavana, who was last seen in Bhajarangi 2 and Govinda Govinda, wrote, “This has not been an easy journey. The journey from being a victim to becoming a survivor. For 5 years now, my name and my identity have been suppressed under the weight of the assault inflicted on me. Though I am not the one who has committed the crime, there have been many attempts to humiliate, silence and isolate me. But at such times, I have had some who stepped forward to keep my voice alive. Now when I hear so many voices speak up for me, I know that I am not alone in this fight for justice. To see justice prevail, to get wrongdoers punished and to ensure no one else goes through such an ordeal again, I shall continue this journey. For all those who are standing with me – a heartfelt thank you for your love.”

Meanwhile, on the work front, Bhavana, who had four releases in Kannada in 2021, is set to sign up for a couple once she is back in Bengaluru later this month.
