Since its announcement, director Subhrajit Mitra’s magnum opus ‘Devi Chowdhurani – Bandit Queen of Bengal’ has made a noise. After unveiling the looks of Bhabani Pathak and Devi Chowdhurani, Adited Motion Pictures and Lok Arts Collective, released a new poster featuring Bharat Kaul on social media handles.

In this movie, Bharat Kaul will be seen playing the role of Majnu Shah, the leader of the Faqir rebellion. According to some scholars, this war was an early battle for India's independence, and joined in many fights against the British East India Company with his 'pious team'.

Speaking about his character, Bharat Kaul says, “Majnu and Bhabani Pathak these two historical characters are real. I really wanted to be part of something very big. Majnu Shah and the entire concept are relevant in today’s time. In Devi Chowdhurani, there is a huge ensemble cast which is rare nowadays. Director Subhrajit Mitra has shown a lot of courage by choosing such a difficult subject. And deal with it. As an actor, I am greedy and hungry to take challenging characters. Hats off to the producers for agreeing to make such a magnum opus at this time.”

The period film is based on Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay’s novel Devi Chowdhurani. Srabanti Chatterjee will play the titular character. Prosenjit Chatterjee is set to play Bhabani Pathak. The film also stars Arjun Chakraborty as Rangaraj and Sabyasachi Chakraborty as zamindar Haraballabh Roy. Apart from these actors, Darshana Banik, Bibriti Chatterjee, and Kinjal Nanda will also be seen in important roles.
