What is it about Bhakshak?

Bhakshak draws inspiration from real-life events that sent shockwaves across India, exposing a dark chapter in Bihar. While the characters and locations are fictionalised, and creative liberties taken in certain scenes, the film strives to capture the essence of the heinous tragedy. As depicted in the film, an independent audit conducted by the Tata Institute of Social Sciences in 2018 uncovered shocking abuse occurring in 17 Bihar shelter homes. Girls in one Muzaffarpur shelter endured years of physical and psychological torture, kept silent by a system seemingly complicit. Despite whispers of the horrors within, Brajesh Thakur's influence held immense power, silencing dissent and perpetuating the abuse.
