The A Harsha-directorial had released in theatres on October 29, which, unfortunately, also turned out to be the day that its lead actor lost his brother Puneeth and Karnataka, its Power Star.
Bhajarangi 2 was one of the star films, the release of which was eagerly awaited since theatres reopened with 100% capacity in early October. The A Harsha directed film, which has Century Star Shivarajkumar in the lead, hit theatres on October 29, but unfortunately for the team, within hours of the film’s morning shows playing, news spread fast that Power Star Puneeth Rajkumar had been rushed to hospital after an incident at the gym during a work-out. Shortly after, his passing was confirmed, which was a blow not only to the family and Kannadigas at large, but also to the film, with theatres at first closed for a couple of days.
Later, even though Shivarajkumar said that the show has to go on, it was widely reported that the general mood of audiences in mourning was not to head to theatres, as a mark of respect for the dearly departed actor. The film, though, ran its course in movie halls, even making it to 50-days at the main theatre.
If you missed watching Bhajarangi 2 when it was in theatres, you can now catch it on Zee5 when the film starts streaming on December 23. Bhajarangi 2 is an action-fantasy that highlighted the importance of natural remedies and Ayurveda in particular, over western medicine. The story is set in two eras, with Shivarajkumar playing two characters in the film. The film, which has music by Arjun Janya, including the soulful Nee Sigoovaregu by Sid Sriram, also stars Bhavana, Shruthi, Saurav Lokesh, Cheluvaraj, etc.
