Bhairathi Ranagal: Rahul Bose set to face-off Shiva Rajkumar in the Narthan directorial
Popular Hindi and Bengali film actor Rahul Bose revealed very recently on a popular platform that he was offered two big opportunities from down south, with one of them being a Kannada film. Speaking to Cyrus Broacha on the hit 'Cyrus Says' podcast, Bose divulged that he was almost set to make his comeback to Kannada cinema after a gap of more than 7 years (his most recent film being Apoorva Kasaravalli), suggesting that in the same vein that he was only waiting for things to fully materialize.
And, as it turns out, Rahul Bose was actually referring to Bhairathi Ranagal, the exciting action drama that has Shiva Rajkumar in the lead. The film, which comes as a prequel to the 2016 film Mufti, has Narthan directing it and the team is expected to take the project on floors very soon, with a March 2024 release most likely in sight. Rahul Bose, according to the reports, has been roped in by team Bhairathi Ranagal to play the antagonist.

Bose, who has been part of several acclaimed/popular Indian projects such as English, August, Bombay Boys, Mr. and Mrs. Iyer, Jhankaar Beats, 15 Park Avenue, Vishwaroopam, among others, is known to strive extremely hard to fit into every role that he takes on. In the same podcast, he revealed that his top efforts would be to dub for his character in the Kannada film, just as he did in Niruttara.
Bhairathi Ranagal is set to bring back some of the Mufti characters such as Babu Hirannaiah, Vasishta Simha, Devaraj and a few more, with Sriimurali's return still remaining uncertain. The prequel film, Narthan reveals, will essentially be an 'origin story' of a kind that will focus on the events that led to the founding of the eponymous gangster. The team is yet to finalize the female lead of the film.
