Bhairathi Ranagal actor Shabeer Kallarakkal: Although Shabeer has been in cinema for a decade, his breakthrough role came with 2021’s Sarpatta Parambarai, in which he played the boxer Dancing Rose
Shabeer Kallarakkal has been an actor since 2014, but he got his major break only in 2021, when he played a boxer called Dancing Rose in Arya’s Sarpatta Parambarai. In the time since, he’s done major antagonist roles in films like King of Kotha, Naa Sami Ranga and Kondal, among others, but it’s only the name Dancing Rose that gets him recognition.
“People don’t recognize my face, but when I tell them that I played Dancing Rose, that’s when they realize who I am. It’s probably because I sport different looks in each of my films. When I was doing King of Kotha with Dulquer Salmaan, it was only towards the end of the film’s shoot that the cast and crew got to know that I am the guy from Sarpatta Parambarai. That keeps happening, but I see the fact that the name Dancing Rose has stuck as a compliment,” says Shabeer, who is all set to make his Kannada film debut this week with Bhairathi Ranagal.

Sarpatta Parambarai, adds Shabeer, changed his life drastically. “Life has been really good since I played Dancing Rose,” he says. In Bhairathi Ranagal, Shabeer plays one of the antagonists, a character called Gatta. The actor has said that his portions with Shivarajkumar are mainly in the first half of the film. Rahul Bose is he main antagonist of the film.

Since taking up the role in Bhairathi Ranagal, Shabeer says that he got at least 2 other Kannada film offers, but has not been able to take up any. “I am busy with the films I have on hand, in Telugu and Tamil; there are 4 projects, including one with Murugadoss sir. I am also set to make my OTT debut with a web series that will be officially announced shortly. I am keen to do more work in Sandalwood,” he says.
