Bereaved Akshay Kumar pens a heartfelt message for his late mother

The Bollywood star’s mother passed away today after a brief hospitalisation.

Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar’s mother, Aruna Bhatia, passed away at the Hiranandani Hospital in Mumbai today. She was earlier shifted to the ICU on account of a prolonged illness. The heartbroken actor took to social media to pen a heartfelt message about his mother.

“She was my core. And today I feel an unbearable pain at the very core of my existence. My maa Smt Aruna Bhatia peacefully left this world today morning and got reunited with my dad in the other world. I respect your prayers as I and my family go through this period. Om Shanti,” he wrote. Sadly, her demise comes a day ahead of Akshay’s birthday tomorrow.

Akshay, who had been filming his next, Cinderella in the UK, returned to India recently on hearing about his mother’s failing health. He has apparently asked producers of his upcoming movies to carry on with the shoot and not stop on his account, as most of the scenes do not require him in them. The actor is expected to take a break from work for a while.
