Bengali actor Vikram Chatterjee to make Bollywood debut with India's first psychological romance drama

The shoot for the film Memory X, written and directed by Tathagata Mukherjee, has already begun. The film will also star Smriti Kalra and Vinay Pathak in pivotal roles

The heartthrob of the Bengali cinema Vikram Chatterjee is now gearing up to create a mark in Bollywood. He will be starring in what is said to be India's first psychological romance drama. The film written and directed by Tathagata Mukherjee will also have Smriti Kalra and Vinay Pathak playing significant roles.

The news was shared by the actor on social media. Chatterjee tweeted the first look poster of the film and wrote: "First ones are always special. Here's revealing the teaser poster of my first Hindi film 'Memory X', India's first psychological romance directed by Tathagata Mukherjee. Co-starring @pathakvinay & #SmritiKalra, produced by Avinaba Ghosh, Tania Mukherje, T&D Productions." (sic) The actor also issued a statement saying the film holds a special place for him. "I'm excited about collaborating with Tathagata Mukherjee for a film that is premised on such a unique concept. Memory X is a dream script for any actor and I'm fortunate that it came to me. It is an enchanting world of parallel timelines. I'm super kicked and looking forward to the shoot now,” he said.

The film Memory X will explore the theory of time and mind space. It revolves around the story of Avinash and Shruti, played by Vikram and Smriti respectively, over three different timelines. The film also marks the debut of the director in Hindi cinema. Mukherjee said, “Memory X is a story that charts across time and mind. It is a psychological-romance that will compel viewers to think about what they know about their own headspace and the nature of time. I'm delighted to be working with talented actors such as Vikram Chatterjee, Smriti Kalra, and Vinay Pathak. We hope to engage viewers with this film and keep them on the edge of their seats.”

Actor Vinay Pathak agreed it is indeed an exciting project and a head-turner. He said that he is looking forward to the shooting of the film in Sikkim, which in itself is 'unique and promising'. "It’s a wonderfully woven psychological romance. It is different from the films that I've been aboard in the past. It is a film that is based on a unique genre and the subject matter has not been explored much in cinema before," he said wishing the entire team the best.

The leading lady of this film Smriti Kalra is sure that the project will be appreciated by the audience. “Memory X is a perplexing tale that explores parallel tracks of time. I'm excited to be a part of something so unique and unheard of. I am sure our audiences will appreciate the effort that our talented crew is putting into the production," she added.

The shoot for the film has already begun in the valley. The film is being produced by Avinaba Ghosh and co-produced by Tania Mukherjee, Tathagata Mukherjee, and Debleena Production Creations.
