Director Arun Vaseegaran’s film The Road, starring Trisha, is one of 2023’s best woman-centred crime thrillers. The movie, which hit the cinemas on October 6, also features Shabeer and Santhosh Prathap in supporting roles. The Road is all set to start streaming on aha from November 10.
The plot revolves around a young daring journalist, named Meera, who gets suspicious about a series of accidents that happen at a specific place. She sets out to know the truth behind the same, but little did she know that it involved a huge challenge.

2. Thittam Irandu (Aishwarya Rajesh)

Aishwarya Rajesh starring Thittam Irandu is a crime thriller, in which the lead actress plays the role of a police officer. Given the mysterious nature of the film, it required a compelling and earnest performance, which Aishwarya delivered brilliantly. Directed by Vignesh Karthick, the movie follows Aishwarya’s character, as she investigates her friend’s disappearance, unravelling clues that ultimately lead to a significant and unimaginable revelation.
3. Driver Jamuna (Aishwarya Rajesh)

Another gem from Aishwarya Rajesh’s filmography, Driver Jamuna is a crime thriller that revolves around a young female, who drives a cab for living. She lands into trouble when three contract killers ask her to give them a ride. How she escapes from this danger forms the crux of the film, helmed by Kinslin.
4. Cadaver (Amala Paul)

Headlined by Amala Paul, Anoop Panicker-directed Cadaver revolves around mysterious murders of two surgeons by Vetri, a prisoner. But now the responsibility of locating his accomplice falls on the shoulders of a pathologist, played by Amala. Her performance, particularly in the first half of the film, was praised by many.
5. Aadai (Amala Paul)
Streaming on: Amazon Prime Video
This Amala Paul starrer, helmed by Rathna Kumar, is counted among Kollywood’s most controversial films, which caused stir due to its depiction of nudity without graphics. Aadai centres on Kamini (Amala), a successful news anchor, who wakes up naked in her empty office after a wild party. While she tries to find something to wear, she receives a call from her friend, who reveals that they were arrested the previous night. Although the film received mixed reviews for its storyline, Amala’s performance was lauded by critics.
