Mani Ratnam's film is an epic action adventure starring Prithviraj, Vikram and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. The film revolves around a bandit leader (Vikram), who kidnaps the wife (Aishwarya) of a policeman (Prithviraj), who killed his sister, but later falls in love with her. The film was a blockbuster hit and went on to win many accolades, including Prithviraj receiving a Filmafare nomination for the best supporting actor award. The film remains a cult classic among cinephiles.

Satham Podathey (2007, Tamil)

Helmed by Vasanth, this psychological thriller stars Prithviraj and Padmapriya as the lead characters. The film, which was based on a true incident, follows a woman (Padmapriya) who tries to save her marriage, although her husband is impotent. Their marriage ends anyway and she gets married again, but her vengeful ex-husband kidnaps her and holds her hostage in his house. This movie’s music, which was composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja, was very well received by the audience and the film too received positive reception from the audience and critics alike.

Mozhi (2007, Tamil)

One of the critically acclaimed films of Prithvuraj’s filmography, this Radha Mohan directorial stars Prithviraj, Jyothika, Prakash Raj, and Swarnamalya. The romantic drama revolved around a musician's love for a stubborn deaf woman who eventually realises that there is more to her life than she previously thought. The film received several accolades and was the highest-grossing Tamil film of the year.

Kaaviya Thalaivan (2014, Tamil)

Vasanthabalan’s historical drama Kavya Thalaivan marked yet another film for Prithviraj as an antagonist. The film narrates the story of two rival artists at Sivadas Swamigal's drama troupe who compete in everything they do. While one of them goes on to become successful, the other fails in life. The movie was well received by audiences, with Prithviraj bagging the best villain award at the Tamil Nadu State Film Awards.

Naam Shabana (2017, Hindi)

Streaming on: Netflix

This multi-star cast film helmed by Shivam Nair features Taapsee, Manoj Bajpayee and Prithviraj Sukumaran, along with Akshay Kumar, Madhurima Tuli, Elli Avram, and Anupam Kher. The action thriller is a spin-off from Baby (2015), which provides the backstory of intelligence agent Shabana, played by Taapsee, and chronicles how she becomes a spy. In the movie, Prithviraj plays a villain named Tony, who is an international arms dealer. Although the film received mixed reception from critics, it went on to become a box office success.
