PS Vinothraj, known for his debut film Koozhangal, is gearing up for the release of his second directorial Kottukkaali on August 23.

PS Vinothraj might be just one film old with his debut film Koozhangal (international title Pebbles). However, his second directorial Kottukkaali which is gearing up for release, is already one of the much-anticipated films. Set to release on August 23, Kottukkaali stars Soori and Anna Ben in the lead roles.

While Kottulaali has received raving reviews from international film festivals, Vinothraj’s Koozhangal also made a splashing debut and won several awards at international film festivals. Ahead of Kottukkaali’s release, here is where you can stream Koozhangal.

Koozhangal on OTT

Koozhangal marks Vinothraj’s debut directorial film. It is produced by Nayanthara and Vignesh Shivan under Rowdy Pictures. The film is set in Madurai, and about how a father and his son travel through the arid stretches to bring back the wife. Koozhangal explores the themes of abuse, childhood, and relationships. It can be streamed on SonyLIV or alternatively on OTTplay Premium.

The film was screened at the 50th International Film Festival Rotterdam held in Netherlands where it bagged the coveted Tiger Award at the festival. The film was selected as the Indian entry for the Best International Feature Film at the 94th Academy Awards, but did not make it to the final cut of nominations.

The film starred Chellapandi and Karuththadaiyaan. Koozhangal has music scored by Yuvan Shankar Raja and received unanimously positive response upon its release. Koozhangal is based on a real incident from Vinothraj's life.

What is Kottukkaali about?

Featuring Anna Ben and Soori in the lead roles, Kottukkaali is also set in Madurai. The film revolves around Meena who is in love with a lowered caste boy. Her family thinks her to be possessed and does all rituals to get her back to sanity.

The film is produced by Sivakarthikeyan under his banner Sivakarthikeyan Productions. It is set to release on August 23 in theatres. The film was selected in the Forum section at the 74th Berlin International Film Festival.
