Two films across contrasting genres are set to lock horns at the box office next weekend in Telugu states (on August 25) - Bedurulanka 2012 and Gandeevadhari Arjuna. While Gandeevadhari Arjuna is an action thriller set in the backdrop of a UN summit and climate change, Bedurulanka 2012 is a comedy revolving around a village’s response to the rumours surrounding an apocalyptic event.
Bedurulanka 2012 marks the directorial debut of Clax and stars RX 100 fame Kartikeya Gummakonda and DJ Tillu girl Neha Sshetty in the lead. The trailer of the apocalyptic comedy produced by Ravindra Benerjee Muppaneni was unveiled by Ram Charan today. True to the premise, the film promises to entertain, laugh, make us think, all within a mainstream cinema setup.
The trailer goes back to the tension surrounding December 21, 2012 in an island in Telugu states. The story is told through the eyes of a youngster and his experiences in the region - from dealing with a village belle, local leaders to how he busts several myths surrounding apocalypse when three men try to manipulate the residents in the name of religion.
Three men use religion as an excuse, claiming that they would not let the apocalypse happen. The youngster faces several roadblocks as he tries to keep them in check. The glimpse ends with the hero introducing himself as ‘Siva Shankara Vara Prasad’ (original name of Chiranjeevi). The trailer has the right mix of novelty, humour, romance and drama to pique a viewer’s interest.
