Nelson Dilipkumar's Beast is set to hit the screens in a few hours. The Vijay-starrer has been riding on high expectations ever since the project was officially announced on his birthday last year. The film's first look posters were also unveiled along with it, hinting at the movie's genre.
Tipped as an action flick, the film's story begins when a group of terrorists hijack a mall and people gathered there. How one among the people who got trapped inside the mall rescues everyone forms the rest of the story. Despite being a full-fledged action movie, the film is said to have ample dose of comedy as well.
When is Beast releasing in theatres?
The movie is releasing across the world on April 13 in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam and Kannada. The Tamil version is expected to release in over 900 theatres in Tamil Nadu alone, while the Telugu version will hit the screens in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana on more than 500 movie halls.
The pre-release booking is going on in full swing and it is reported that some of the centers like Tamil Nadu, Kerala, US and some of the GCC countries are set to witness phenomenal numbers at the box office. The film is Vijay's release after 15 months.
Why is Beast considered as one of the biggest releases of Tamil in 2022?
The name Vijay is more than enough to draw audiences belonging to different age groups to theatres. The star's popularity has witnessed a surge in recent years, thanks to his consistency in the box office and minimum guarantee story selection. Makers of Beast have pinned high hopes on the 'Brand Vijay' which is inarguably the USP of the film.
The movie is expected to surpass the first day gross collection set by Valimai in Tamil Nadu. Trade pundits are eagerly waiting to see how many records the film can rewrite if it opens to positive response from critics and the audience. Moreover, the reception Nelson's last outing, Doctor, garnered among critics and movie buffs is another reason many are waiting for Beast.
What character does Vijay play in Beast?
The star plays Veera Raghavan, an agile and intelligent RAW agent who has been instrumental in pulling off various ambitious missions for the country. The last time Vijay played a soldier was in AR Murugadoss' Thuppakki which was released a decade ago.
The film's trailer and promo videos have provided glimpses into the kind of action scenes it has in store for the audience. As the movie revolves around the risk a one-man army takes to protect the lives of innocent people who got trapped in a mall, fans hope that makers have left no stone unturned in presenting Vijay in the most stylish and raw manner till date.
Why made fans disappointed with the makers of Beast sometime ago?
The first single from the film, Arabic Kuthu, went on to become a sensational hit, and many celebs started sharing videos of them shaking a leg to the peppy song. Fans were impatiently waiting for the makers to announce the movie's audio launch which has become a celebration of sorts for Vijay-starrers in the recent years.
However, to their disappointment, the team decided not to conduct an audio launch. The delay in coming up with promo videos and trailers also made a few fans upset. However, Sun Pictures, who bankrolled the project, had an unexpected surprise for fans. They organized an interview with Vijay for which director Nelson was the host. The video was out on Sunday evening on a popular television channel. This was the first interview of Vijay after a decade's hiatus.
