Although it was one of the most highly anticipated films of the year, Beast opened to mixed reviews and its box office collections took a huge hit due to a clash with KGF: Chapter 2.
Beast’s roar seems to get quieter each day. Although the film was released on April 13, a day before KGF: Chapter 2, the former’s box office earnings took a toll from its clash with Yash’s film, which was released on April 14. Nonetheless on its fourth day, Vijay’s film has managed to cross the Rs 150 crore mark in terms of worldwide collections at the box office.
According to Box Office India, this makes Beast the sixth film of Vijay to cross the Rs 150 crore mark, a feat it achieved within three days.
But despite that, the action comedy thriller failed to make the kind of impact that people had expected. Trade analyst Manobala Vijayabalan also notes that SS Rajamouli’s RRR managed to earn more in major circuits outside Tamil Nadu on its 23rd day than Beast managed on its fourth day. He also noted that in some cities, there was even a show where Beast sold zero tickets, on Saturday.
Starring Vijay and Pooja Hegde, Beast is written and directed by Nelson. The film opened to mixed reviews, and part of the review by OTTplay reads, “The way the filmmaker tried to balance action and humour misfired in most of the instances.”
Meanwhile, Prashant Neel’s KGF Chapter 2 is still going strong at the box office after its exceptional opening day. Starring Yash, the film also features Sanjay Dutt, Raveena Tandon, Srinidhi Shetty, and Prakash Raj.
