Mammootty-starrer Bazooka, Painkili

The month of February would remind most people of Valentine’s Day. This year, February 14, 2025, is indeed special for Malayalam movie-buffs as four movies are gearing up for release on V-Day. Though the day is dedicated to all things love, the Malayalam movies set to release on the day are as varied as Mammootty’s game thriller Bazooka to Antony Varghese Pepe’s actioner Daveed. But if you think it is all about the thrilling chases and fights this Valentine’s Day, Anaswara Rajan’s Painkili and Arjun Ashokan-starrer Bromance promise light-hearted stories. Let’s take a look at all the movies releasing on February 14, 2025, and why they deserve your love this V-Day.

Bazooka

Bazooka marks yet another collaboration between Mammootty and Gautham Vasudev Menon, after Dominic and the Ladies' Purse. But unlike 'Dominic' which saw GVM in the director’s chair, Bazooka will have the senior filmmaker in front of the camera as he joins Mammootty in the film, which is said to be a game thriller. It would be interesting to note the chemistry between the two as they share screen space. Deeno Dennis directs this movie, which also features Babu Antony and Neeta Pillai, among others.

Daveed

Antony Varghese Pepe enters the boxing ring for the action-packed Daveed, which also features Egyptian actor Mo Ismail. Govind Vishnu’s film tells the power-packed story of a boxer. Vijayaraghavan, who left a mark with Kishkindha Kaandam and Rifle Club last year, too adds gravitas to the film, which is high on action. Lijomol Jose and Saiju Kurup also appear in key roles in the film. The teaser of Daveed was unveiled on Wednesday, and Antony Varghese has certainly raised the expectations for the film.

Bromance

Arjun Ashokan, who was last seen in Ennu Swantham Punyalan which was released earlier this month, is back with another entertainer Bromance. The film stars a host of young talents including Mathew Thomas, Mahima Nambiar, Shyam Mohan, and Sangeeth Prathap. The colorful posters of lead actors promise a fun outing on the cards. The film is directed by Arun D Jose, who had earlier helmed Jo and Jo.

Painkili

Nothing much is known about the plot of Painkili, directed by Sreejith Babu. However, the names attached to the movie are enough to make you sit up and take note of it. The film stars Anaswara Rajan, who has already started the New Year on a splendid note after her Rekhachithram won both the approval of critics and audiences. The other main lead is played by Sajin Gopu or Amban from Fahadh Faasil’s Aavesham. Painkili has one more connection to the Fahadh Faasil-starrer as Aavesham director Jithu Madhavan turns writer for the movie.
