Bastar: The Naxal Story

Tomorrow, on March 15, Bastar: The Naxal Story will hit the big screens. The film marks the reunion of The Kerala Story's team: Vipul Amrutlal Shah, Subdipto Sen, and Adah Sharma. Now that Bastar is releasing in theatres, we have come to know where it will stream on OTT after its big screen run. ZEE5 will also make the upcoming film available, similar to The Kerala Story with the streaming date yet to be announced.

Synopsis of Bastar: The Naxal Story

According to the film's synopsis, hoisting the national flag in Bastar, in the very heart of independent India, is a crime punishable by death under Maoist law. In the last half century, militant leftists in India, known as Maoists or Naxals, have slaughtered thousands of innocent people and ruined state assets worth trillions of dollars in the communist experiment. Bastar: The Naxal Story is touted to be the most heartbreaking memorial to India's greatest human catastrophe since independence.

The trailer begins with disturbing footage of Naxalites murdering CRPF Jawans, and then cuts to a scene where students at JNU celebrate the Jawans' martyrdom. It certainly doesn't hold back, what with the human-chopping scenes set to the National Anthem, the burning of children, the shooting of political figures, and the hanging of innocent people.

Adah Sharma's role preparation

Adah plays the role of IPS Neerja Madhavan in the film, and according to Sen, she travelled to Bastar in order to seek blessings from Danteswari Mata, the most revered temple in the region. The people of Bastar believe that Danteswari Mata's blessings are necessary for every auspicious undertaking.

He continued by saying that Adah wanted to learn the basic nuances of jungle warfare and arms handling, as well as meet women in the CRPF and Chhattisgarh police who were actually fighting battles on the ground.

Portrayal of external influence and propaganda

China pays the country's so-called "intellectuals" to spread false propaganda and sow discord among the people in the film. It also promises to give a glimpse into how many martyrs there actually were.
