The Kerala Story famed actress Adah Sharma's Bastar releases on Zee5 and OTTplay Premium this Friday
After The Kerala Story success, Adah Sharma is now seen in Bastar. Both the movies are based on real-life incidents. While The Kerala Story spoke about conversion to Islam and eventually being forced into becoming suicide bombers, Bastar is about the Naxals taking endless lives and destroying national assets back in 1910. Many have claimed that she works in films promoting a propaganda. After avoiding the topic for a while now, Adah has finally spoken on it. This is ahead of Bastar’s OTT release on Zee5 and OTTplay Premium on May 17.
When asked about her thoughts on people assuming she works in propaganda films, Adah tells Global Movie magazine, “I don't respond to that because if I do, that means I have to retort to it. When I am doing a film, that film is not propaganda for me.” Recalling the subject of The Kerala Story, Adah says that she truly believes that girls are getting converted and becoming suicide bombers, and thus, she took up the movie ‘with her heart and soul, and full belief.’ The actress then said that the audiences can choose to not like her movies and she would be okay with that as well. She further explained that if she starts thinking whether viewers would like her role or not, then it would be doing injustice to the character she set on to play.
“I have not got so many compliments for any of my characters as much as I’ve got for Bastar,” Adah shares. Citing examples of Zee5 original Sunflower 2 and the re-release of The Kerala Story (both also on Zee5 and OTTplay Premium) on OTT, she also hoped that Bastar releases on OTT uncensored.
Adah believes her life changed after The Kerala Story’s release. She feels wow since a lot of scripts are coming her way since the movie’s release. The actress mentions that her pressure is not whether the movie would perform at the Box Office but rather if she can deliver a good performance. “With Kerala Story, we put in everything and made it look so real that I raised my own standard of what people thought I was capable of doing,” she said, adding that her fans know now that she wouldn’t work on mediocre projects. Adah also expresses gratitude for her own life after playing the respective characters in The Kerala Story and Bastar, and leading their lives.
