OTTplay was the first to announce that Minnal Murali and Joji directors Basil Joseph and Dileesh Pothan will be teaming up for Amal Neerad’s associate Sangeeth P Rajan’s debut directorial.

We now hear that the movie will have a cow as its female protagonist. The film, which also has Indrans, Johny Antony, Jagadish Kumar, and Unnimaya Prasad, is scripted by Vinoy Thomas and Aneesh Anjali. Lijo Jose Pellissery’s Churuli was based on one of Vinoy’s stories.

Dileesh, in an earlier interview with us, had confirmed that he will be producing the movie along with Syam Pushkaran under the banner of Bhavana Studios. The shoot of the film is currently progressing in Kannur and filming is expected to wrap up in the next month. The makers are expected to reveal the title of the film soon.

Dileesh had earlier worked with Basil in Joji, in which the latter had played a priest. In an earlier interview with us the Minnal Murali director said that it was an interesting casting decision from Dileesh and Syam side for the Fahadh Faasil-starrer, which was a direct-to-OTT release on Amazon Prime Video last year.

“They wanted to break stereotypes; Pothettan could have played the priest but instead they placed someone that nobody expected in that role and I think that’s 80% of the job done. I only then had to just perform,” said Basil, who was lauded for his role in the movie, inspired by William Shakespeare’s McBeth.

Meanwhile, Basil, who was also part of last year’s superhit Jan.E.Man, has a host of acting projects lined up including actor-director Vineeth Kumar’s mystery drama starring Tovino Thomas, Darshana Rajendran’s Jaya Jaya Jaya Hey and Sanju V Samuel’s youth-centric sports film, which has Mathew Thomas, Namitha Pramod and Minnal Murali’s Guru Somasundaram as part of the cast.
