Barroz out on OTT: The fantasy drama marks Mohanlal's debut as director. The Malayalam superstar plays the role of a treasure guardian in the film.

Barroz, the recently released Malayalam film which marked the directorial debut of actor Mohanlal, is now out on OTT! You can stream the actor's fantasy adventure drama on Disney+ Hotstar right away. The film is available in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu and Kannada.

Barroz out on OTT: Here is where you can stream it

Malayalam superstar Mohanlal donned a new role with his latest film Barroz, by taking up direction for the first time. Mohanlal also starred in the lead role in Barroz, which made its streaming debut recently. The film is available on Disney+ Hotstar from Wednesday. The Malayalam film can be streamed in four languages, including Tamil, Telugu and Kannada.

Barroz released in theatres as a 3D film is a children's fantasy drama. It revolves around the titular character (played by Mohanlal), who is a ghost with the responsibility to protect the treasure of Portuguese emperor Da Gama till his rightful heir returns to claim it. However, imprisoned by a curse, years later, a Portuguese teenager comes to Goa with his father having plans to convert the palace into a casino.

Barroz becomes a box office bomb

Upon its release, Barroz did not make a positive buzz, and opened to middling reviews. Financially, the film did not perform well and failed to recover its budget costs of Rs 100 crore.

Barroz is produced by Antony Perumbavoor's Aashirvad Cinemas, and also stars Maya Rao West, Cesar Lorente Raton, Ignacio Mateos, Kallirroi Tziafeta, Nerea Camacho and Tuhin Menon. Santhosh Sivan has cranked the camera, and B. Ajithkumar edited the film.

Meanwhile, Mohanlal's next project set to release is Tharun Moorthy's Thudarum, a drama co-starring Shobana. The film was slated for release on January 30, but stands postponed. Mohanlal also has L2: Empuraan with Prithviraj Sukumaran directing the film. It is set to release on March 27 in theatres.
