Barroz, the directorial debut of Mohanlal is gearing up for a Christmas release. The superstar recently opened up about the 3D fantasy film, and made some interesting revelations.
Mohanlal, the legendary superstar of Malayalam cinema, is gearing up to make his directorial debut with Barroz, this Christmas. The movie, touted to be a 3D fantasy film, has been slated to hit the theatres across the globe, on December 25, 2024. In a recent promotional event held in Chennai, the actor-filmmaker extensively spoke about Barroz, and the technical challenges he faced while making the film. Mohanlal also heaped praises on Lydian Nadhaswaram, who composed the music score for the film, at the event.
The veteran actor, who is set to release Barroz, shared his excitement on making his debut as a filmmaker, at the event. Interestingly, Mohanlal revealed that direct a film was never a plan, but it just happened organically. The superstar, who stated that he is the ‘chosen one’ to do this film, however admitted that it was not an easy process, at all. The actor-filmmaker revealed that the whole filming process was very challenging, as the team always had to think from the audiences’ point of view.
Mohanlal remarked that even a small mistake while filming would have highly impacted the film, as it was shot in 3D. The Malayalam superstar further added that even small mistakes while making such 3D films will cause a disorientation on audiences, and even cause a headache to the viewer. The biggest challenge for the actor-filmmaker while Barroz was to choose the right shots, and make the right frames. Mohanlal, who praised his technical crew, also stated that they roped in the best technicians from all industries, especially Hollywood, for the Barroz.
According to Mohanlal, Barroz is not a ‘big’ film, but introduces a new way of storytelling. The actor-filmmaker stated that the team never tried to make the film look by including unnecessary shots to showcase its scale. The superstar further added that Barroz is not exactly a children’s film, but intends out find and bring out the inner child in all kinds of audiences.
The actor-filmmaker also heaped praises on the Barroz music director, Lydian Nadhaswaram, at the event. During his speech, Mohanlal recalled meeting the young musician six years back, during the discussions of his directorial debut. The actor-filmmaker was keen to have a young fresh talent, who has a sense of innocence to his personality, and can bring out the inner child in a listener with his music, for the film. Mohanlal, who stated that Lydian has given a brilliant output with the film’s music score, further added then he will soon grow up to be a great musician.
