Barroz, the directorial debut of Mohanlal, is gearing up for a grand theatrical release on December 25, 2024. As per the reports, the movie will be releasing only in 3D format.
Mohanlal’s long-delayed directorial debut Barroz is gearing up for its grand theatrical release on Christmas Day of 2024. The movie, which originally started rolling in 2021, is finally hitting the theatres after multiple delays and changes in its star cast. As reported earlier, Barroz is slated to have a massive release worldwide, but only in 3D format. The recent updates suggest that the Mohanlal directorial’s 2D version might not get a theatrical release.
The highly anticipated project, which is touted to be a period fantasy children’s film, is reportedly slated to be released only in 3D format in the theatres. Director Mohanlal and his team particularly shot Barroz entirely in 3D format unlike most of the other big-budget ventures, which were shot in 2D and later converted into 3D. The actor-filmmaker also spent over one and a half years on the film’s extensive post-production works.
As per the reports, that is the reason why director Mohanlal and his team are keen to release Barroz only in 3D format, across the globe. The makers feel that converting the movie into 2D format just to be screened on a few screens, will be a major downgrade. It might also negatively impact the visual quality and the technical finesse of the period fantasy film. So, Barroz will be released only in 3D format, on both normal and IMAX screens.
In one of his recent interviews, Mohanlal confirmed that Barroz is an out-and-out period fantasy film that is made for children. According to the Malayalam superstar, who also plays the titular role in the film, he was keen to make a quality 3D film for children, as the genre is not very well explored in the industry. The actor-filmmaker revealed that his directorial debut is a highly layered film that deals with many emotions including love, integrity, and commitment.
