Barroz and Voodoo: Here’s all about the animated series based on Mohanlal s directorial debut

Barroz, the directorial debut of Mohanlal is gearing up for a grand theatrical release. Ahead of the release, the superstar dropped animation series Barroz and Voodoo, on internet.

Mohanlal is about to complete the 46th year of his acting career, soon. The legendary superstar, who is best known for his impeccable acting skills, is set to make his directorial debut with Barroz. The 3D fantasy film, which is based on Jijo Punnoose’s popular literary work Barroz - Guardian of D' Gama's Treasure, has been under production for a very long time. After a long wait, the Mohanlal directorial is gearing up for a grand release. Ahead of the release, the makers launched the Barroz and Voodoo animated series, on social media.

Mohanlal launches Barroz and Voodoo animated series

The superstar-turned-filmmaker, who is gearing for the grand theatrical release of his debut directorial venture Barroz recently surprised the audiences with a new update on the film. Mohanlal released an animated video on his social media handles with a caption that reads: “Barroz & Voodoo” - An Animated Series”. Interestingly, the video is conceptualized by TK Rajeev Kumar, the creative director of Barroz, and directed by Sunil Nambu.

The Barroz and Voodoo video suggests that Mohanlal’s debut directorial venture is a fun fantasy film meant for children and those who enjoy it. Ramesh Narayan composed music for the animation video. Krishnadas Panki penned the lyrics. The 51-second long first video which was released today (July 14, 2024), suggests that more episodes, which feature the adventures of Mohanlal’s character Barroz and his sidekick Voodoo, will be released very soon. More updates on the same are expected to be out in the coming days.

Barroz to get an Onam release?

If the recent updates are to be believed, Barroz is finally set to hit the big screens soon, as an Onam special release of 2024. In that case, the Mohanlal directorial might clash with the upcoming Mammootty starrer Bazooka, and Tovino Thomas’ Ajayante Randam Moshanam, at the box office. Even though the makers have not officially announced the release date yet, Mohanlal dropped a special poster of the film in May 2024, hinting at the same.
