Oppenheimer minted more within two days of release than Barbie's overall Box Office collection
Barbie has failed to charm the Indian audiences and how! The movie has barely crossed Rs. 20 crores at the Box Office. It did not even touch Rs. 22 crores even after day five of its release.
The Margot Robbie-Ryan Gosling starrer has been suffering at the Box Office since the movie has received the least amount of screens among the recent releases. The film not having resonated with the Indian audiences works even more against the Greta Gerwig directorial.
Here’s the day-wise collection of Barbie, according to a report on Box Office India, up until now:
Friday – Rs. 4.50 crores
Saturday – Rs. 6 crores
Sunday – Rs. 6.75 crores
Monday – Rs. 2.25 crores
Tuesday – Rs. 2.25 crores
Total – Rs. 21.75 crores
While Oppenheimer has minted nearly Rs. 6 crores on its first weekday, Barbie collected Rs. 6 crores on its first weekend (Saturday). In fact, the Nolan film collected more than Barbie’s total collections in India within two days.
Barbie is being constantly criticized by celebrity parents. They claim to have walked out of theatres because their daughters did not like the film.
Although Barbie has failed to leave an impression in India, the movie is a blockbuster in North America and Europe. Barbie originated in Japan and became popular in the US and thus, its popularity in America does not come as a surprise at all.
