Former US President Barack Obama will now go the David Attenborough way and serve as host and narrator of a nature documentary series Our Great National Parks for Netflix.

The trailer opens to stunning visuals of animals in their natural habitats as Obama says, "A fish that can walk. Surfing hippos that want to catch the waves. Species found nowhere else on earth. When humanity started to protect these wild places, we did not realize how important they would become: They’re a haven for endangered species and a hotbed for scientific research."

The first season of Our Great National Parks will travel from Monterey Bay, California, to Kenya’s Tsavo National Park, Indonesia’s Gunung Leuser National Park, and Chilean Patagonia, writes Deadline. From the looks of the trailer, the docuseries will be interactive, educational and for a wide variety of Netflix's subscriber base.

The five-part series titled was announced in February last year as part of the slate produced by Barack and Michaelle Obama's Higher Ground Productions company. However, there had been little to no indication about the former president being the host.

In 2018, the Obamas had entered a multi-year deal with the streamer to produce content like scripted series, unscripted series, docu-series, documentaries and features via their banner.

Meanwhile, Obama had taken to Twitter on March 14 and revealed that he had tested positive for COVID-19. He wrote that he just had a scratchy throat, while his wife had tested negative.
