The ongoing series of ‘Bambai Meri Jaan’ has been getting encouraging reviews, courtesy, the powerful performances from the cast. In addition to that, the series’ powerful story that also forms one of the reasons that makes it the gripping drama that it is.
The series sees Kritika Kamra in a never before role of Habiba, a lady who is sandwiched between her righteous policeman father and her brother, who wants to make a name for himself in the underworld. Amidst all this, her relationship with her mother Sakina Kadri (played by Nivedita Bhattacharya), forms one of the major highlights of the series. In an exclusive interview with OTTplay, Kritika Kamra spoke about the relationship that her character shares with her mother.
Kritika on her relationship with her mother in the series
Kritika Kamra said, “It's a very wonderful relationship. These are the two women of this family that is full of men. Both of them are very different and have their individual personalities. The mother is aware of the right and wrong of the cause and effect of the consequences of everyone's actions in the family. She's a God-fearing woman who stands by her husband no matter what… and understands that it's important to do the right thing. Having said that, the fact also remains that she also gets torn between her husband and her son, who is also my brother Dara.

Sakina understands her mother but...
As a mother, even though she understands what Dara is doing is wrong, she's not able to stop him. Because what Dara is bringing to the family… is actually like… he is also the provider. She is also in the grey there. So, they are very interesting and complex characters. I think my character really understands her mother, because she's the only other woman who understands the sacrifices that a woman makes in a family.
Two women amidst two hot headed men
My character also understands that Sakina is the glue that keeps the household together despite the presence of two strong headed men, who are at loggerheads with each other. And if it wasn't for the mother, they would not be a family anymore. My character doesn't always agree with the mother and that’s why she argues with her. She also doesn’t understand as to why the mother always sides with the father and always criticizes the brother because she idolizes Dara. But she also understands that, even in those arguments, there is a very deep bond of love for a mother and appreciation for being a woman”.
As for the remaining cast, besides Kritika Kamra, ‘Bambai Meri Jaan’ also stars Kay Kay Menon, Avinash Tiwary, Nivedita Bhattacharya, Ashwani Kumar, Karmveer Choudhary, Amyra Dastur, Saurabh Sachdeva and others. The series is poresently streaming on Prime Video.
