Farhan Akhtar has announced his next Amazon Prime Video series. Titled Bambai Meri Jaan, it stars Kay Kay Menon in the lead role. Farhan, who has bankrolled the project, reveals the poster. In this, one can see one of the lead actors in a silhouette. The first glimpse sees buildings burning in the background. This hints at the project being based on the Mumbai riots, most likely the 1993 riots (which is when Mumbai was still Bambai/Bombay).
What is Bambai Meri Jaan?
Bambai Meri Jaan is an upcoming web series. It is being introduced by KGF bankrollers, Excel Entertainment (led by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani). The show is about the Mumbai riots, from a time when Mumbai was still Bombay. The riots of 1992-1993 were the after-effects of the Babri Masjid demolition in Ayodhya. The riots lasted for a month, from December 1992 to January 1993. Approximately 900 casualties were reported back then.
Who are cast in the show?
Kay Kay Menon and Avinash Tiwary are the male leads on the show. Who plays a bigger role, or if they both have equally important roles, is yet to be known. One is likely to be cast as the leader of one community and the other as the leader of the other one. Kritika Kamra and Nivedita Bhattacharya along with Amyra Dastur play the female counterparts on the show.

Bambai Meri Jaan is helmed by Shujaat Saudagar. It is produced by Excel Entertainment. S. Hussain Zaidi has penned the story of the show while Bambai Meri Jaan is created by Rensil D’Silva and Shujaat Saudagar.
When and where will it release?
Bambai Meri Jaan is an Amazon Prime Video original series. Thus, it will release on the OTT platform. The makers are yet to announce a given date. The poster released only reads, “Coming soon.”
Are new sequels announced?
Bambai Meri Jaan is the first season of the show. The makers have not announced more seasons of the show as of now. However, Bambai Meri Jaan is likely to get more seasons. The same could be introduced towards the end of the first season.
