Ballerina trailer: Ana de Armas seeks vengeance in explosive John Wick spinoff

Ana de Armas embarks on a mission of vengeance in the first trailer for Ballerina the John Wick spinoff, set for release on June 6, 2025. In this action thriller, de Armas portrays Eve Macarro, a Ruska Roman ballerina who seeks revenge for her family's murder. Ballerina focusses on the female assassin who first appeared in Unity Phelan's portrayal in John Wick: Chapter 3—Parabellum and John Wick: Chapter 4.

Eve's quest for revenge highlighted in the trailer

Eve (de Armas), who is out for revenge on her own, has her origin story told in the trailer. She employs a high-powered hose to extinguish a flamethrower, uses an ice skate to sever someone's throat, and kicks numerous asses. John Wick, who plays Baba Yaga even appears at the very end of the trailer.

Keanu Reeves, the franchise's mainstay, will also appear in Ballerina as Wick. According to writer Shay Hatten, who spoke with Collider about Reeves's role in the film, Wick is a real character, not just a one-piece cameo. "Wick" alums Ian McShane and Anjelica Huston are back for Ballerina and the late Lance Reddick is also a part of the cast. Along with Norman Reedus, the cast also includes Gabriel Byrne and Catalina Sandino Moreno.

Ballerina continues the success of the John Wick franchise

Following the fourth John Wick film—which grossed over $440 million globally—comes From the World of John Wick: Ballerina the highest-grossing movie in the franchise so far. Peacock will produce The Continental, a prequel miniseries starring Mel Gibson, which will premiere in September 2023, marking the series' previous foray into spinoffs.

Hatten writes Ballerina and adapts it from characters created by Derek Kolstad. It is directed by Len Wiseman. In addition to directing all four John Wick films, Chad Stahelski, Basil Iwanyk, and Erica Lee are producing the film, and Kaley Smalley Romo is serving as an executive producer.
