The film, directed by Mohan G, stars Selvaraghavan in the lead
Director Mohan G's next Bakasuran has hit screens today. Bakasuran is the first film which is exclusively headlined by Selvaraghavan. The director, who is known for making controversial films like Draupadi and Rudra Thandavam, has delved into the subject of online sex racket in this film and how young women fall prey to the same. It also talks about the importance of parents being informed about their children's activities.
The film stars Selvaraghavan and Natty in the lead and is said to be a revenge thriller. Selvaraghavan is seen at his revengeful best, just like his avatar in Saani Kaayidham. The unusual combination of Selvaraghavan and Mohan G had piqued the curiosity of the audience.Music is by Sam CS and cinematography is by Farooq J Basha. Director Mohan himself has produced the project under the banner of GM Film Corporation.
At a recent press meet, the director had stated that Bakasuran was based on real-life incidents that he came across in his life. He added that he had met one of his friends, who had an app where young women were exploited for a meagre sum.
A day before the release, Mohan G shared a picture with his team and wrote, "#Bakasuran is all yours from now.. Thanks to my technical team and all artists and those all who worked for this movie completion.. Special thanks to my God (sic)."Though the director has tried to stay away from controversies in the film, his regressive take on women's honour and cellphones and its dangers where he has gone on to vilify the technology itself, has not gone well with many.
Many have stated that the film talks about women's safety, it has ended up as an attempt to victimise women and doles out regressive ideas.
