Badtameez Dil | Mallika Dua reveals how she dealt with the sudden demise of her parents to COVID-19 | Exclusive

Comedian-actor Mallika Dua is the daughter of veteran journalist Vinod Dua and Dr. Padmavati Dua.

She made everyone laugh with her comedy content on social media as well as on streaming platforms. But she also faced her darkest nights in 2021 when Mallika Dua, due to the coronavirus, lost both of her parents—veteran journalist Vinod Dua and Dr. Padmavati Dua—within a gap of six mouths.

But she is also the phoenix who is rising from the ashes and now interacting with the media for her new web series titled Badtameez Dil.

In an emotional conversation with OTTplay, the artist opened about how she gathered the courage to face the world, smile on camera, and get on with life.

Mallika told OTTplay, "I think half the job in your life is done right if you are blessed with good parents, and I had the world's best parents ever. So, when they left and you felt deep grief, that meant something very precious was lost, right? When something so special is lost, your gratitude must be as high as your grief. So, I made sure that after everything, when I faced the world, my narrative was not that of a girl who lost both of her parents; I was the girl who had the best parents one could ever have. Unfortunately, during the pandemic, so many people lost their loved ones. But in my case, so many people mourn for the loss of both my parents, and so many people mourn with us for my parents' demise. There comes our gratitude. Not that I am saying it makes my pain any less, but yes, I and my sister have a lot of gratitude along with the grief. Also, when my parents were alive, they gave me so much that many kids do not get that too, so we should just be thankful for everything we had. That is how we are trying to make sense of this."

Vinod Dua was one of the iconic multiple award-winning journalists who was the inspiration of many young journalists across the nation, and he was also honoured with the Padma Shri. Dr. Padmavati Dua, on the other hand, was a multi-talented personality who was a radiologist, a singer, and an art connoisseur.

Mallika is appearing in the rom-com web series Badtameez Dil, also starring Barun Sobti, Ridhi Dogra, and Minissha Lamba, among others. The 10-episode web series is streaming on Amazon miniTV.
