Badhaai Do: The movie is a fine blend of humour and sensitive emotions, says Rajkummar Rao

The movie is as a spiritual sequel to the 2018 release Badhaai Ho

Comedy-drama Badhaai Do is all set for release and the movie’s trailer has already grabbed many eyeballs. Headlined by Rajkummar Rao and Bhumi Pednekar, the Harshvardhan Kulkarni directorial is expected to be an intense drama with loads of entertainment.

In a recent interaction, Rajkummar opened up to ETimes about his first reactions to the script, the movie’s tone and more. Terming the film as a ‘whirlpool of emotions’, he revealed that the movie has many elements that will resonate with viewers. He felt the script was wonderfully crafted and had a great structure as well. He believes that the film is a perfect balance of humour and sensitive emotions.

Rajkummar hailed the role in his film as one of the most layered characters in his career. Beyond the humour, the role dives into the deeper core of emotions. “We just wanted to normalise his sexuality, we never wanted to focus on just the part that he is gay”, the actor said.

He also added he enjoyed playing Shardul, and called the portrayal a challenging as well. The muscular physique and working with Harsh is not something easy to pull off, Rajkummar added.

Penned by Suman Adhikary and Akshat Ghidial, Badhaai Do is backed by Junglee Pictures. Aspiritual sequel to the 2018 film Badhaai Ho, the movie will be released theatrically on February 11, 2022. It also stars Seema Pahwa, Sheeba Chaddha, Loveleen Mishra and Nitesh Pandey.
