The team of the upcoming Kannada film Bachelor Party has been saying it right from the start – it is going to be an absolute joyride and now, with just over a week from its date with audiences, they’ve released a trailer that proves just that. Debutant director Abhijit Mahesh has put together a film that promises a laugh riot from start-to-finish, which will release on January 26. Diganth, Yogi and Achyuth Kumar are at the centre of a bunch of misadventures that unfold in Bangkok, when they head there to attend a friend’s (Shine Shetty) bachelor party. The film, which has cinematography by Aravind Kashyap, also stars Siri Ravikumar, Balaji Manohar, Prakash Thuminad, among others.

Bachelor Party director Abhijit Mahesh is the master of wisecracks, says Diganth

In an earlier conversation with the media, Diganth had said that audiences should watch the film and frame their own opinion about it, instead of jumping to a conclusion based on, say, a poster or trailer. His comment was based on the narrative that Abhijit’s film is a lot like the Hollywood hit The Hangover, the first part of which follows a bachelor party gone wrong. Despite Diganth’s protestation, there is no denying that Bachelor Party has a heavy Hangover hangover. Whether or not the films are drastically different will be revealed when it hits theatres on Republic Day.

Rakshit Shetty on his Paramvah Studios: Good cinema happens when a filmmaker can tell stories without any compromise

Bachelor Party is the first Paramvah Studios presentation for the year. Rakshit Shetty’s production house has a bunch of films ready for release, which will introduce a set of new filmmakers to the Kannada film industry. There’s Chandrajith Belliappa’s Ibbani Tabbida Ileyalli, as well as films like Abracadabra, Strawberry and Mithya. Rakshit, meanwhile, is set to start work on his return to direction, Richard Anthony. Speaking to OTTplay, the actor-filmmaker had said that he is aiming for a mid-2025 outing for the film, but he’s yet to go on floors with his ambitious Ulidavaru Kandanthe prequel/sequel saga, so it’s timeline remains up in the air.
