Akshay Kumar's movies don't usually perform well in Hyderabad or Bangalore but Bachchhan paandey is an exception.
Akshay Kumar’s Bachchhhan Paandey had a massive opening and the movie was houseful or almost houseful in many cities across India. This includes Hyderabad and Bangalore, where his movies do not usually perform well. Owing to that, Bachchhan Paandey might be looking at a double digit on its opening day.
The film, featuring Akshay Kumar and Kriti Sanon in the lead roles, has managed to give The Kashmir Files some competition. The latter is about to touch Rs. 200 crore in Box Office collection and if things go well for Bachchhan Paandey, then Akshay’s film will also cross Rs. 75 crores over the first weekend itself.
Going by the numbers that have come in the morning, Bachchhan Paandey could be on its way to touch Rs. 20-mark on day one itself. According to a report on Box Office India, the movie has performed well despite the Holi celebrations in the morning.
Bachchhan Paandey performed particularly well from 9-10 am. It was houseful in areas like Jai Ganesh and Chinchwad in Pune, Banjara Hills in Hyderabad and Garuda and Galleria in Bangalore. It is to be noted that Akshay’s movies do not work well in either Hyderabad or Bangalore but Bachchhan Paandey is an exception to that.
The movie’s Box Office is expected to further pick up over the evening time. Hindi-speaking belts like Delhi-NCR, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, Bihar, Chhattisgarh and Haryana might watch the evening shows after celebrating Holi.
The advance bookings for Bachchhan Paandey were not up to the standards set by Akshay Kumar movies and thus, the opening report comes as a surprise. Good word-of-mouth could lead the film to Rs. 20 crores or even further.
While Vivek Agnihotri’s The Kashmir Files has more screens at this given point, whether Akshay’s film can stay afloat in such a scenario remains to be seen. After all, even Prabhas’ Radhe Shyam did not stand much of a chance in front of the movie on Kashmir exodus.
At this point though, Bachchhan Paandey could be at par with The Kashmir Files’ single day collection, unless Vivek’s film changes the narrative and ends up making Rs. 30 crores on the day of Bachchhan Paandey’s release. Given the situation (Holi and Bachchhan Paandey being a comparatively newer film), that too is unlikely to happen.
