One of the biggest surprise hits of 2022, Baby, is gearing up for its digital premiere on aha on August 25. The film, directed by Hrudaya Kaleyam fame Sai Rajesh, starred Anand Deverakonda, Vaishnavi Chaitanya and Viraj Ashwin in the lead and was produced by SKN under Mass Movie Makers. Nearly six weeks after its theatrical run, there’s huge curiosity around the arrival of Baby on OTT.

The film revolves around the highs and lows in the complex relationship among its protagonists - Anand, Vaishnavi and Viraj. While Anand and Vaishnavi are teenage sweethearts, the latter’s life takes a drastic turn when she joins an engineering college. From her looks to ideas about love, friendship and social status, Vaishnavi is a new person altogether, something Anand can’t digest easily.

While Viraj is clearly interested in Vaishnavi, the latter loses clarity in her love life soon and all hell breaks loose. How will Anand, Viraj and Vaishnavi deal with a messy scenario? Watch out for Baby to know more. Besides Sai Rajesh’s writing and the performances of the leads, Baby is equally memorable for Bal Reddy’s cinematography, Vijai Bulganin’s album and the background score.

Much like RX100, 7/G Brundavan Colony and Arjun Reddy, the film turned out to be a conversation starer upon its release and left audiences divided with the characterisation of its female lead. While the director insisted that his intention was to tell the story of three flawed characters, some opined that the treatment of the story was rather problematic in the latter half of the film.

The divided reactions motivated more viewers to watch the film in theatres and it eventually collected over four times its budget, ensuring profits to buyers in all areas. There’s no doubt that Baby’s OTT premiere will trigger a debate about the plot points of the film again. Besides the fact it’s a hit film, the social media discussions will definitely boost the viewership metrics on aha.
