Baby John box office collection day 3: Atlee produced drama is not really having a good day at the box office and it now enters its first weekend.
Baby John box office collection day 3: The box office haul is something that the country has been keeping track of for the past many days because it is that intense. Pushpa 2: The Rule has managed a 20-day clear run and has been breaking records like a cakewalk every single day. On its 21st day, a film interrupted its run: the Varun Dhawan starrer Baby John. The Atlee-produced movie, directed by Kalees, was one of the most anticipated films for many reasons. After a delay and significant buzz, it finally released on the big screen on December 25. While the reviews were not so much in its favor, the movie also chose to release at a very wrong window, with the Allu Arjun thunderstorm still going strong. Turns out, Day 3 has not been good for the Dhawan starrer.
Varun Dhawan-led Baby John also stars Keerthy Suresh and Wamiqa Gabbi in the lead roles and is a remake of Atlee's Theri. The movie was riding on a strong buzz until the world succumbed to the Pushpa 2 frenzy, and the rest, as you know, is history. The Atlee-produced big-budget movie had the privilege of opening on Christmas Day, managing to earn a figure slightly below expectations and estimates. Day 2 came with a massive drop, but it seems like Day 3 has taken the ride even further downhill.
As per Sacnilk, Baby John on the third day of its release has only managed to earn ₹3.65 crore* as per early estimates. On Thursday, the second day of release, it earned ₹4.65 crore, marking a very upsetting drop. The dent looks even bigger when comparing both days' collections with the first-day box office haul of ₹11.25 crore. The grand total at the domestic box office now stands at ₹19.65 crore.

This is not showing a great sign for Baby John which is made on a considerably high budget. The real litmus test for the movie begins today as it enters the first weekend. For it to sustain itself on the big screen, the movie will need to bounce back close to its opening day collection at least. However, Pushpa 2 has yet again found momentum, and the movie is steadily growing after witnessing a dip.
To give you an idea, Pushpa 2 which released on December 5, managed to earn ₹19.75 crore at the Indian box office on Day 21, compared to the ₹12.05 crore of Baby John. The gap between the two makes it clear how difficult it is for the Varun Dhawan starrer to find a sweet spot between the Pushpa 2 takeover and launch itself into the box office race well.
Interestingly, Baby John's opening day collection has turned out to be Varun Dhawan's best opening in the past five years. Bhediya earned ₹7.48 crore on its first day, while Jugjugg Jeeyo collected ₹9.28 crore on its opening day. This means there is some redemption for the actor even when the movie has failed to meet expectations on the first day of release.
